WHAT WE DO

Child Safe Horizons Learning Academy is committed to delivering high quality, accessible courses in order to assist professionals to understand how to protect children in development and humanitarian organisations, schools, and any other setting where adult staff come into contact with children, either directly or indirectly, ensuring their rights to protection from all forms of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.

 

CHILD SAFEGUARDING POLICIES, PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES

 

 

​​Our lead consultants have worked with: West and Central Africa Region; Middle East and North Africa; East and Southern Africa; South Asia; South East Asia; The Pacific; and Australia - developing policies and procedures with various organisations. 

​

Child Safe Horizons’ Director and some of its Australia and Europe-based consultants have extensive experience developing donor-compliant (DFAT and DFID) child safeguarding policies, procedures and guidelines.

We can assist your organization with the following services:

  • Child safeguarding organisational audit

  • Child safeguarding risk assessment for the organisation and specific activities or programs

  • Review of existing child safeguarding policies & procedures against donor minimum requirements and global best practice

  • Strengthening of existing policies and procedures

  • Developing new policies and procedures

  • Training staff in all aspects of child safeguarding using participatory, culturally-sensitive and relevant methodologies

  • Developing tailored tools for monitoring policy implementation

  • Technical support to develop community reporting mechanisms

PREVENTION OF SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND ABUSE (PSEA)

Increasingly Child Safe Horizons is broadening its prevention and protection work to include all forms of violence, sexual abuse and exploitation against all vulnerable populations, including people living with disabilities, women, refugees and IDPs. We have consultants with experience in developing safeguarding policies and procedures in line with DFID’s Enhanced Due Diligence – Safeguarding for External Partners

Our Director is also qualified to conduct organisational sexual exploitation and abuse investigations in line with UN Secretary-General Bulletin 13:2013, IASC-PSEA and Core Humanitarian Standards.

INTERNATIONAL CHILD PROTECTION

Our roster consultants have decades of experience in various aspects of international child protection, including community-based child protection networks, education in emergencies, child-friendly spaces, baseline research and evaluations, child-friendly research, and advocacy on all aspects of child protection and prevention of violence against children

PREVENTING VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN

We support and develop programmes that prevent violence against children through a systemic, holistic approach.

 

We work with the systems on the ground to strengthen and fill any existing gaps.
